staceness Representing MASS, I love to dance ...and I am looking to join a high- energy, face- paced dance class in MASS... Somewhere where the people are there to lose weight and gain dancing skills...

JimB Hey Babe, we were down in your neck of the woods last summer...We went to the National Square Dance Convention in Charlotte, then went on to Charleston for a couple of days. What a beautiful city! We wished we'd had more time there.
Maybe you could persuade your husband just to come to one club open house. There are four clubs in Charleston alone, and more in the area. You can look up the closest club on the SC Square Dance Federation website: http://www.scsquaredance.com/. The clubs usually hold open houses in early September to promote their upcoming classes. You might be pleasantly surprised!

fitbeachbabe Sorry, not into square dancing--and yes, unpleasant 5th grade memories did pop up! haha...i'm sure it's a great workout though, you're probably right. Don't think I could ever convince my husband to do it with me anyway.

JimB Anyone here into square dancing? I know, it probably brings back unpleasant memories of elementary school gym class, but if you take a real square dance class you learn a lot more interesting moves. I think its more fun than ballroom dancing because you're not only working with your partner, you're interacting with three other couples as well. Our club caller once noted that square dancing for a couple of hours provides as much cardio benefit as running two miles!
