kettlebell27 Well, they are simply odd-shaped objects of resistance that make your body work harder than traditional means of exercise, such as dumbbell, barbell, and machine lifts. Since the object's weight is displaced well outside of the normal grip of a dumbbell, you have to engage more muscles to help stabilize such an off-set load on the body, that is the main advantage I see in using them. On a 'simple' level, I noticed by body learning how to 'connect' itself better by doing the basic movements of squatting, lunging, pushing, pulling, bending & twisting with the KB's.
